UDOT’s Traffic & Safety Division performs traffic studies for all four region offices. This includes signal studies, warrants analysis, traffic counts, speed studies, passing studies, pedestrian studies, and several other types. Since being implemented in 2016, Workflow Manager has tracked the study process for more than 750 studies.
Staff engineers request studies, which are then assigned to a consultant engineer. As the study is completed various information and documents are loaded into the system. When data is ready for review the assigned user is notified and performs their review. Study edits are completed and tracked before the final study is emailed to the appropriate group. This process has allowed region staff to get the critical traffic data they need, and has allowed the Traffic & Safety Division to complete studies much more quickly and in a financially responsible way.
